My name is Miran Omanovic and I am a former software developer and graphics designer turned product manager and consultant. I was born in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina but I live all over, mainly Bosnia, Canada and the United States.
I am an entrepreneur, a polymath, a techie, and aspiring renaissance man whose passion is developing elegant, creative, and pragmatic solutions to real world problems.
I have 15+ years of diverse design and development experience in various fields: medical, betting, gas na oil, and video game development, and over 5+ years in consulting and product management in both the government and private sectors.
My infatuation with technology began at an early age. Armed with endless curiosity and an old screwdriver, I would dismantle toys and electronics, carefully inspect pieces, and try to figure out how it all worked together. This infatuation turned to love when I got my first PC and was introduced to the world of programming.
I joined the business side of IT fairly recently but I have been applying the concepts in practice throughout my development career without realizing it. Every application I developed I would first gather requirements, read as much information I could find about the industry, the processes, standards and best practices. I would try to find if there are available solutions to the problem and how others were tackling the problem. Through detailed analysis I would figure out if I could use the existing approach or if I had to innovate a whole new one. My ability to see the broader picture, and pertain and analyse large sets of information proved invaluable in my pursuit of bettering the world one platform at a time.
When I wasn’t looking to fix whatever thing I dismantled at the given moment, I would be drawing. Oh the joy I felt when I first discovered MS Pain and Corel. I would spend hours bringing my imagination to life pixel by pixel. Before I knew it, I moved onto Photoshop and Illustrator and became a freelance graphics designer.
My graphics experience and knowledge is not limited only to the 2D world, as being part of indie game development I dabbled in the world of 3D character and world design. You can say I exchanged my pen and paper with a drawing tablet.
